Our Program Purpose
To be a positive force in the lives of low income, potential first generation, and at-risk youth by helping them develop academically, socially, physically and spiritually; so that they will become responsible contributing members of the communities in which they live.
- Community A “family” atmosphere that is welcoming to empower youth towards dynamic transformation.
- Coaching Provide coaching services conducive to the overall well-being of each youth participant.
- Citizenship Encourage career planning conducive to the overall well-being of each youth participant.
Parent/Guardian Involvement
Momma’s House stresses the importance of parent/guardian involvement. We incorporate parent/guardian participation through the Parents Association (PA) of Momma’s House. PA is a labor of love devoted to the students in the program.
The association is completely organized and administrated by the parents with Momma’s House staff serving as ex-officio members of the committee.
The purpose and goals of the Association are to:
- Provide support for Momma’s House and the success program;
- Serve as an Advisory Board to Momma’s House;
- Empower parents to organize in their school systems; and throughout their community
- Raise funds to supplement Momma’s House activities
- We have a face-to-face interview with each student and parent. Both parent(s) and student(s) sign a contract outlining the expectations and commitments to Momma’s House, school, the community, themselves, and most importantly to one another.
